This past weekend was AWESOME!!!  Mike and I escaped away to the woods of Hocking Hills for a post 1st anniversary trip.  It was so nice to unplug, disconnect (i-phones) and RE-connect (with each other) for the weekend! ENJOY;)!

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!

Booo…

Last night after dinner Mike and I had a little “Halloweenie” fun:)

Mike and I have some SPECIAL plans this weekend that I will share in a later blog, so last night it was “now or never” time as far as get our pumpkins carved.

We had some awesome inexpensive decorating kits so Mike and I each mapped out our designs and got to work…

Some friendly trash talking did occur on whose pumpkin would be the best!

After a half hour or so of stenciling, poking, carving AND also discovering I had a rotten spot in the bottom of my pumpkin:(… our pumpkins were complete!

Mike did a crazy face…

And I did a cute kitty! Please excuse the hot mess I am, pumpkin carving took place POST my run:)

Once we cleaned up we headed outside to display our works of art!

Do you carve pumpkins as an adult?  What is your favorite part of Halloween?

After a wonderful long weekend with my in-laws and all of Mike’s extended family today I woke up extra tired.

Friday night Mike and I headed over to Mike’s sisters for her birthday.  Dinner consisted of filipino steak (which is basically just sirloin tips), lots of RICE, cheesy potatoes, homemade macaroni and cheese, homemade biscuits and birthday cupcakes.  Notice something missing like VEGETABLES!!!! It’s hard to eat healthy around these people!!!  Anyways we had a very nice time and the best part was hanging out with my beautiful niece:)

Saturday I managed to drag Mike out and we got in a 3 mile hike during the day since it was so beautiful out.

Saturday night it was Mike’s annual family bonfire.  All of Mike’s extended family that lives in the U.S. heads to his auntie’s house in Massillon for a fun filled night of catching up, a giant bonfire and again eating MASS amount of delicious food.  The party always starts with all of the little ones showing everyone their Halloween costumes…

Mike and I are destined to have beautiful quarter filipino children:).  His auntie always starts the dinner with one hell of a salad bar (which is my favorite part).  There was so much food (too much to name all) but the show stopper every year is the giant steaks they get for everyone.  This year they hosted 39 total people which means minus the little ones they prepared over 30 steaks!  I don’t care for red meat so I always give my steak to Mike and he shares it with his brother.  After dinner and visiting with family, everyone then bundles up and heads down to the giant bonfire where there is always all the making for s’mores, hot homemade apple cider, and hot chocolate!

Sunday we woke up bright and early and headed to church with Mike’s Uncle Gary which was great, and then it was back over to his Auntie’s for brunch…. again more food!

So although this weekend was great, there was one common theme…. FOOD!!!

When I woke up this morning I was tired, lethargic and knew I had to get my over indulging butt back in gear!  I hate Monday’s because I always get slammed with work issues and today I was also extremely anxious because my step dad has been admitted to the hospital for his congestive heart failure so they can run a slew of tests on him (he is doing well tonight).  I really buckled down at work today with the promise to myself that at 4pm I was calling it a day, putting on my running gear and heading out to my favorite trail.

I honestly looked forward to my run tonight all day.  This trail is 6 miles long and I told myself I was going to keep running until I felt better physically and mentally.  This run was hard and a challenge, but all the mental bitching I did made time ease by a bit because before I knew it I had 5.5 miles done.  I was going to quit and walk the rest back to my car, but I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye.  It was a deer and it was literally jogging the same direction as me towards my car 2o feet away from being side to side with me.  I saw it as a sign and sucked it up and finished strong.  The deer escaped into the woods and I crawled into my car exhausted but accomplished.  I’m glad Monday is over:)!!!

Most of October has been a bust… Not that its been a “bad” month but most of it has completely been a derail!  I think my last post was Oct. 4th explaining my diverticulitis.  So that put me down for about two weeks and then after I finally got my appetite back I ate stuff I shouldn’t of and then felt like crap again… uh it was just a big mess!

Last week I finally started feeling better and then we got a call last Monday night Oct. 10th that one of Mike’s friends unexpectedly passed away.  He was only 26 years old and left behind two small boys 4 and 1.  This really rocked our world last week.  Between the showing and then the funeral Friday my poor husband and his friends were all emotionally exhausted.  My husband hasn’t really ever lost someone close to him so we have had alot of conversation within the last week about grieving and self reflection and basically just being sad.

After having most of this month be a “bust” a I knew I needed to snap out of rut yesterday!  First thing was first… I got back on track with my meal planning…

And FINALLY got my butt back on the treadmill and RAN:)

I ran about 3.5 miles and felt great!  It really was the boost I needed to clear my mind and reset my focus about whats important in my life.  My family, my friends, and most importantly taking care of MEEEEEE!!!!

And lastly it’s time to get back on track blogging… geesh!

On a final note CONGRATS to all of you that ran in the Cbus half and full marathon last weekend!  One of my besties ran her second half in 1:48!  Go Erin:)!!!

And lastly it’s time to get back on track blogging… geesh!

Normal Crazy Life

Standard

It has been SO long since I last blogged:(!!!  And the reason is… I have felt like absolute garbage the last eight days.  I’ve been extra tired, extra grumpy, had NO appetite and have had an aching pain in my lower back and left front abdomen.

I HATEEEEE going to the doctor and kept telling myself I was just under a lot of stress from work (which I am, AHHHH).  After complaining to my husband and feeling worse each passing day I finally realized yesterday that I had to go to the doctor and find out what the hell was going on.

First let me start by saying NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I am not pregnant:)!!!  We aren’t quite ready for that yet and are taking the proper precautions to ensure that is not even a possiblity.

Anyways after seeing the doctor yesterday and getting a few tests done I found out I have… Diverticulitis.  Diverticulitis is small, bulging sacs or pouches of the inner lining of the intestine (diverticulosis) that become inflamed or infected. Most often, these pouches are in the large intestine (colon).  Doctors aren’t quite sure how someone get this but I am now on a soft liquid diet for four days and am on a horse pill antibotic that I have to take twice a day.  I was also prescribed vicodin for the pain!  I hate the way pain pills make me feel but after taking one I realized how much pain I was really in.

Today is only day two on my meds so I still don’t feel 100%, but I have so much more piece of mind knowing what’s wrong.  I can NOT wait to just feel better and return to my normal crazy life;)!!!
