Late night blog = movie review

Yes its 12:30am so technically this will be a Friday post but I’m just going to make it my LATE late night Thursday post:)

The hubby and I both have the day off tomorrow so earlier today we made plans to go to a late movie tonight.  I have been dying to see “Black Swan” so we planned on the 9:50pm showing!

Mike got a new computer desk on Tues. and then proclaimed to me that he was going to try to sell his old desk on craigslist… I then laughed at him and told him he should pay someone to take it from him.  Well today he informed me he was meeting someone at 6pm tonight that was going to buy his old desk for $30.00!  Thank you craigslist and good work hubs:)!

After the craigslist deal went down we ventured to one of our favorite spots for dinner:

Primo’s Deli is hands down one of my FAVORITE spots in Akron.  They have any kind of beer you could think of and serve chips and a homemade ranch dip (you have to ask for it) that is to die for!  I ordered the turkey reuben… YUMO

After dinner we stopped back at home before heading to the movies.  Since “Black Swan” has been out for a couple weeks now the theater wasn’t crowded which was nice!  For those of you who haven’t heard of “Black Swan” or see any previews here ya go…

The verdict…

This movie was AWESOME!  I loved everything about it and honestly I would say it was one of the best movies I have seen this year.  Mike liked it a lot as well and we both agreed that it was the kind of movie that a person would either love or hate and we both loved it.  The director Darren Aronofsky, is known for using a film technique called hip-hop montage and the use of an snorricam which is a camera device that is rigged to the body of the actor. Both techniques are brilliantly  displayed in not only in “Black Swan” but also “Requiem for a Dream”.

The acting was amazing as well!  I read that Natalie Portman trained for two years to get the body of the part to play Nina.

This movie is very deep, thought provoking and disturbing at times and may not be for everyone but it was for us!  Considering the last movie we saw in the theater was The Exorcism of Emily Rose which SUCKED we were much happier heading home tonight:)!

Now its off to bed and I am SOOO looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.  If any of you see or have seen “Black Swan” please let me know your thoughts!!!!

Night guys and can you believe its almost the last day of 2010!!!!

Weighing in on Wednesday… and yes the madness continued

Today was again my weigh in day for Weight Watchers and again my weight remained the exact amount…. so yes thats 2 weeks of no change but also no gain over the holidays so I will take it!  Next week is a new goal though!

Today the cleaning madness did indeed continue!  I woke up and had a giant mug of coffee and made myself a energy pack green smoothie:

Green Smoothie:

1 Banana

5 chunks of fresh pineapple

1/8 cup of light vanilla soy milk

1 peach cup of Fiber One yogurt

Handful of fresh Spinach

Place all ingredients into a magic bullet blend and enjoy!

After enjoying my delicious green smoothie I then made a quick trip to Walmart in search of bins to create a new makeshift under garment dresser in our master bedroom.  I chose these:

I purchased 4 large ones and four small ones.  I spent hours and hours sorting though clothes. I made a summer pile, a winter pile, a work pile, a play pile, a work out pile, a trash pile and a donate pile.  Can I just say I loathe doing anything with clothes expect buying them!!!  The finished product was…

While sorting and organizing today I made plans with a couple of my girlfriends to meet up tonight for a glass of wine while our hubby’s had band practice.  Speaking of my hubby’s band I don’t think I’ve plugged them on my blog yet!  There called, “If These Trees Could Talk”.  There an instrumental band and have been featured on playstation games, Levi’s commercials and mostly recently numerous episode of 16 and Pregnant on MTV.

I headed over to my friends house to catch up about the holidays and have a glass or two of wine:)

Myles didn’t enjoy any wine with us:)  Amanda and I had his share…

Hope everyone had a happy hump day!!!

Let the madness continue tomorrow…

After being a LAZY bummmm all day…  I decided at 9pm tonight that I wanted to rearrange our bedroom and my office.

God help my husband!  Mike moved the big stuff (dresser, TV, bed) while I pointed and smiled when I was pleased with the new arrangement.

I managed to finish putting our bedroom back together but my office is another story so that will have to wait until tomorrow.  While I have been busy in our room my hubby has been arranging our basement.  We are transforming our finished basement into a family room/ Mike’s office/ Mike’s jam space.  We have alot of great plans for the basement and they are slowly coming to life so its very exciting and pictures will be coming:)!

So since it is now 11:58pm at night and I just crawled in bed I am hitting the hay!  I promise a more involved blog tomorrow getting back to the roots of what this blog is suppose to be all about… food, fitness and some more of my crazy life:)!

Home for the holidays…

All good things must come to an end so now its back home… back to work… and back to reality!  Christmas was GREAT this year:)

My TWO favorite gifts I got were:

My momma got me this beauty:)  I have been wanting a new camera for awhile now and my hubby dropped the hint to my parents and viola!  I love it and can’t wait for my blogs picture quality to improve!

My other fav gift:

My hubby got me a beautiful necklace:)!

Here is a recap of the holiday in photos:

Mike and I at his family’s on Christmas Eve

Me, my step-dad, my momma and Mike and our son Scoobs (like we could leave him alone on c-mas!)

Every year my cousin Katie and I take funny pictures with our 82 year-old grand mother.  I shout out the pose and they adhere…

1 million dollars…

Shooting ya the guns…

After leaving my grandma’s we headed back to my parents to open more gifts:

We started with our Christmas stockings…

The next morning I played with my new camera and took a great pic of the hubby…

While my parents cooked us up a yummy breakfast…

So folks that was my Christmas in a nut shell!  Mike and I still don’t have any definite plans for New Years Eve yet we are just keeping our fingers crossed the snow and cold keep up so we can go skiing on New Years day!

As for today… since I work from home it was an EXTREMELY slow day, seriously I only got one email!  Due to the slowness I cleaned the whole house (spring cleaning style), I put away ALL of our cmas gifts, and rearranged the basement we are slowly beginning to finish.  So I am BEAT!

Mike and I our waiting to watch Intervention… then its off to bed!

Catch up and chaos

Due to a fun-filled day yesterday I didn’t get a chance to blog so lets play catch up!  Yesterday morning I discovered my bff Jill had the day off and since I was done working at noon we made plans to meet at 2pm at Crocker Park on the west side of Cleveland for a late lunch and shopping date!

Jill tried to convince me to buy the above sweater for the hubby…. my answer was NO:)  We treaded in and out of the cold to many stores (all of which were CRAZY packed with people)  I was in the giving spirit and only bought some clothes for the hubby at H&M.  I also got him a pair of these rad shoes in a dark green:

After shopping for a bit Jill and I headed to one of our favorite spots for lunch…. Aladdins:

(I have no idea who that is in the picture)….

Jill and I split an order of hummus and pita bread:

And sipped of there delicious freshly brewed mint tea:

For our main dishes Jill got a falafel salad:

And I ordered there chicken salad pocket which is:

Chicken Salad Pocket

Chicken salad layered with mixed greens, topped with roasted almonds and alfalfa sprouts served in a whole pita. Your choice of cheddar or feta cheese and dressing.

Everything tasted great and we were stuffed so Jill and I decided to walk off our lunch a little and stopped to take some candid holiday photos:

Ok so now let’s fast forward to today… is it seriously Christmas Eve?!?! The last few months have flow by and I just can’t believe Christmas is here already (I think I say this every year)!  Our Christmas festivities start late tonight, and when I say late I mean LATE!  Mike’s whole extended family meets at church for midnight mass service.  After midnight mass…. (yes 1:00 a.m.) we all drive to his aunt’s house where everyone eats masses of food and exchanges gifts (were now at 2:00 a.m.)!  Our plan is to leave at the LATEST (Mike are you reading this) at 3:00 a.m.  That puts us back home and in bed by 4:00 a.m….  Then on Christmas day (5 hours later) we will wake up around 9:00 a.m. to get ready and be on the road by 10:00 a.m. to drive 2 hours west to spend Christmas day with my family…. Just typing it makes me tired!!!  It IS alot and this plan will probably have to be revised when we have kids, but for now spending time with both of our families is what makes me and the hubby happy so we both just have to suck it up and roll with it!

Now I’m off to….

Finish wrapping gifts

Work out

Paint my nails

Happy Holidays everyone:)!!!

Weighing in on Wednesday

Wednesdays are my weigh in day on Weight Watchers and to say I have fallen off the wagon this last week would be an understatement!  However, weigh in this morning wasn’t TOO bad I was only up 1 pound since my loss last week.

More than likely the one pound gain was due to water retention but it was still enough for me to get my butt back into gear.  So I planned a date with myself… my “dreadmill”… and Oprah at 4pm:)

The Workout:

10 minute warmup- 4.0 for a minute, 5.0 for a minute, 6.0 for a minute… repeat for 10 minutes

20 minute- Interval between 6.0 – 7.0

10 minute- Interval between 5.0 – 6.0

10 minute- 5.5 run

8 minute- 4.0 recovery walk

The results… 58.00 minutes, 5 miles, nearly 800 calories burned!

This workout rocked and afterward immediately involved an abundant amount of stretching and foam rolling!

Tomorrow is only a half day of work for me and then its off until Monday:)!

It’s one of those nights…

I can’t sleep… I hate nights like this when for NO apparent reason I lie in bed wide awake at 12:04am…

This time of the year I tend to do a lot of self reflection as I’m sure most people do hence “New Years” resolutions.  Each year I ask myself what have I accomplished in the last year and what do I hope to conquer in the next.  This past year has surely had its fill but the two major ones…

Get married….

Find a new job that makes me happy… (mom this pic is for you)

No one knows what the future may hold but I hope to spring into 2011 with a more positive outlook than I have had leaving 2010.  Some things on my 2011 bucket list include:

Running a half marathon:

Take more pictures (I have my eye on a better camera at Sam’s Club that I may bite the bullet and go buy after the holidays)

And the BIGGEST thing I hope to accomplish is too not sweat the small stuff… You would think the older I get the better I would be able to understand and accept that people that I may not know at all or people that I think I know very well are not always going to say or do the things I may think is right or better.  However, I am finding this to be the complete opposite.  The older I get the more I demand out of people… kindness, respect, loyalty, being a mind-reader (all women are guilty of this at times).  And when I don’t get this…. watch out.  I find I congratulate this behavior and look at it as a “mess with me and you’ll pay”.  I’ve always liked this quality about myself… people must earn my respect and if they can’t then there not worth my time or effort.  As I type thing I realize that on the outside looking in how ridiculous this behavior may seem but to me it has been a great defense mechanism… I won’t allow you to hurt me.  Is this a healthy way of living… all signs are pointing to NO.  Maybe this is why this time of year (the holidays) are so unpleasant for me at times.  Self-reflection can be down right hard sometimes and admitting your wrong is a tough pill for anyone to swallow.

So in closing 2011 can be whatever I make it too be and fingers crossed when I am writing this very same blog on December 22nd, 2011 hopefully it will be coming from a 1/2 marathon running, picturing taking, book reading, patient… kinder… less demanding happy me:)!

And now its time for bed:)!
