Reflecting…

Standard

The weekend is over and I’m sad, two days is never enough!  Since I haven’t been blogging as much as I would like to the last few weeks I thought I would type out my reflections of the weekend instead of just lying here in bed sad that it’s over!

Friday night Mike and I had a “date night”.  We went to 3 point in Akron.  The service and food were really fantastic!  I got the tilapia and Mike got the chicken alfredo.  We were going to see the movie, “The Woman In Black” but on the way we stopped home to let our dog out and decided to just stay home and get a movie on demand.  Mike loves going to the movie theater but to me nothing beats putting on my pj’s and laying on the couch!  That’s comfort baby!  We ended up watching the movie, “In Time”.  I really liked it and Mike thought it was just ok.  I mean how can you go wrong with JT?  He ALWAYS brings sexy back in my book!

On Saturday I fully intended on sleeping in but my internal clock had other plans because I was up and at em at 8am!  Waking up my hubby before 10am is just not an option so I took advantage of my “alone time” and began reading a new book I just got via my Nook.  It’s called, “The China Study” and if health/nutrition interests you at all I highly recommend reading this book.

“In The China Study, Dr. Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and also its ability to reduce or reverse the risk or effects of these deadly illnesses. The China Study also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and irresponsible scientists.”

Once the hubby finally woke up we ran some errands and then bummed around until it was time to go to our friend Tom’s birthday celebration.  We headed to Rivera lanes in the Ak-rowdy for a bowling extravaganza!  Never underestimate a bowling alleys bar, they make there drinks STRONG!   The night ended at a few more of our typical hang spots dancing and drinking way to much!  I think my face says it all in this picture…

Mike and I didn’t get home until 3:30am (didn’t you know 28 is the new 21)!!!!  I admit when I laid down to sleep last night I prayed to the hangover gods to take mercy on my soul.  Luckily I didn’t wake up until 11am this morning and felt great.  I had a 6 mile training run to get in today so I immediately ate breakfast (another hangover cure I believe)…

Green Smoothie

1 cup of raw baby spinach

1 tsp. of peanut butter

1 banana

1/2 tsp. of cocoa powder

1 fiber one vanilla yogurt container

ice

2/3 cup water

Blend and enjoy!

After breakfast I immediately changed into my running gear and headed to my favorite running trail, Sand Run!  Seriously fellow Ohioans how flipping beautiful was it out today!  I am loving this weather.  Since it had been awhile since I ran outside and on this difficult trail my goal was to pace myself and to take in the beautiful scenery.  I think I only looked at my Garmin maybe twice the entire run.  I finished in 66 min flat and I was really happy.  Good run + no stomach issues= happy Angela:)!!!

The rest of the day I was a straight bum until I cooked Mike and I a delicious feast for dinner.  Which included this…

We’re not big football fans so we decided our Superbowl Sunday would consist of good food and catching clips of the puppy-bowl.  The puppy bowl is the most funny/cute thing I have ever seen in my life!

Speaking of funny have you guys seen my new favorite commercial on TV right now?

What was your favorite part about your weekend?

Mildly interested…

Standard

Today felt like a Monday but was really Tuesday which means one day closer to the weekend so it was a WIN WIN!  Going back to work after a long weekend is always brutal but getting back on schedule was nice after all the crap I ate this weekend, the alcohol I drank and the late late nights!

Last night I started reading a new ebook called, “The 17 day diet”.  It’s gotten a lot of hype because the doctor that created it was on the Dr. Oz show.  I know a couple people who have done the diet, so I wanted to read and learn more about it.

Wikipedia explains the diet as:

The 17 Day Diet is a diet created in 2010 by Mike Moreno.[1]

The diet is centered around the idea of metabolic confusion and was originally made to be a weight loss plan to get rid of or avoid typical holiday weight gain. The diet has four cycles that the dieter must follow:

  1. Accelerate: Encourages rapid weight loss, cleansing and fat burning. Discourages fat storage in the dieter.
  2. Activate: Resets the metabolism of the dieter.
  3. Achieve: Develops good eating habits and helps the dieter to learn how to eat carbohydrates.
  4. Arrive: A combination of the first three cycles.
Now please don’t get it twisted I am NOT into fad diets or anything in general that is even called a diet.  I am looking at this as more of a good detox for my body and a good back to basics platform as the weather starts getting colder.  It’s always good to check yourself and how you eat.  Also anybody can eat extra healthy for only 17 days… right?!?!  We’ll see!
I started with Cycle One today… so I went to the grocery store on my lunch break to STOCK up!
Cycle One is:
1.  Drink 8 ounces of hot lemon water first thing in the AM
2.  Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner consist of:
  • Unlimited amounts of vegetables (excluding: beans, potatoes, corn, avocado)
  • Unlimited amounts of lean protein
    • Chicken and Turkey
    • Eggs ( two yolks= a serving, four egg whites= a serving)
    • Fish
Other Key Elements of the Diet:
  • Drink 3 glasses of green tea throughout the day
  • Drink 8 glasses of water a day- 64 ounces total
  • Eat 2 probiotics a day (yogurt & etc.)
  • Eat 2 pieces of fruit a day (last fruit must be consumed before 2pm)
    • Low sugar fruits only – such as peaches, apples, grapes and other selected
I am only going to do a one time through cycle one and then evaluate where I am and how I feel.  I also have chosen Wednesday’s as my weigh in day!  I will be done on Sept. 22nd.
Tomorrow I will explain more about the exercise portion of the diet and what my plan is there!  Hope everyone had a good Tuesday back to the grind!

Random…

Standard

Random #1-  I can’t believe I haven’t blogged for 7 whole days!  To be completely honest, I have had MAJOR writers block.   And it was my birthday this past Sunday so I sort of had an excuse.  We went karaoking and I won a trophy…

Ok. I lied. I drank to much and then claimed this random bar trophy as my own… but I like my version better!

Random #2-

Tonight I ran five miles and my knee started hurting.  Now I’m scared that since I’m a year older that I’m falling apart and/or developing arthritic appendages:(!

Random #3-

I’ve literally had 20 people ask me within the last couple weeks when Mike and I plan to have kids… um NEVER! Just kidding of course, we want kids someday but it’s not like I am pushing menopause anytime soon and we haven’t even been married a flipping year PEOPLE!  Plus having a kid terrifies me (and probably always will) SO we’re going to wait a while folks:)!

Random #4-

I am reading a great book on my nook right now called, “Everyday Zen” by Charlotte Beck and it is AMAZING!   Here is a paragraph that really hit home with me:

The only people who live comfortably are those who learn not to dream their lives away, but to with what’s right here-now, no matter what it is: good, bad, nice, not nice, headache, being ill, being happy.  It doesn’t make any difference.

That paragraph was my “light bulb moment” as Oprah would say!  The older I get the more I dream my life away, “when I have more money”, “when I lose ten pounds”.  This books really focuses on the here and now and how to live a overall comfortable life.  It states, “If we can accept the way things are, we’re not going to be greatly upset by anything.  And if we do become upset it is over more quickly.”  Yes mom you need to read this as well:)!

Random #5-

I need to start going to bed earlier… I’ve become a reality TV whore and enough is enough!

It feels good to be back:)!!!

Nesting…

Standard

NOOO I am NOT prego!  But I have been cleaning and nesting like a mofo this week!  I moved my office to a different room in our house, cleaned out our entire attic and have pretty much cleaned out and organized every drawer and closet in our entire house.  It is spotless and organized and I feel GREAT!!!

Last night I got an early birthday present…

My birthday isn’t until August 14th but I have really wanted an e-reader.  I did alot of research between the nook and the kindle and I decided to go with the nook because of the option to lend from your local library.  I got my first book last night…

So far the book is great!  I read way to late which is why I never got around to blogging:-)!  I have the perfect little reading spot in my bedroom…

Yes I’m sitting there right now… and yes I’m off to read:)!!!  Tune in tomorrow to hear all about my first bootcamp class tonight!  I decided to dedicate an entire post to telling ya’ll how much it rocked my socks:)!!!
